Digital Citizens of the Future!

Digital Citizens of the Future!

The Pathway towards Digital Citizenship.

The Government of Cambodia has released the “Cambodia Digital Government Policy 2022-2035”, a comprehensive plan to elevate the nation’s digital landscape. The comprehensive document presents the roadmap for digital transformation within the government system over the next decade. This project aims to boost public service efficiency, promote transparency, and enable economic growth in the country.

The highlights include data-driven governance, digital capacity development, and promoting digital society and economy. This strategic move positions Cambodia as a forward-looking nation that embraces the 4th industrial revolution. This document serves as a guide and framework for both the public and private sectors as Cambodia transitions into the digital era.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has just launched the new GoDigital Cambodia website.

The GoDigital Cambodia webpage conducts a digital transformation campaign that facilitates the government’s efforts to propel a digital vision & economic evolution. Aimed at building a digitally inclusive society, this government initiative ensures transparency, efficiency, and gains in terms of social and economic endeavors.

Through GoDigital, the government connects citizens to e-services and digitalization processes to create a digital Government, a digital economy, and a digital society. The approach includes various strategic aspects such as strategic investment in ICT infrastructure, developing digital skills and literacies, bridging digital divides, and encouraging digital entrepreneurship.

What does this mean for Educational institutions?

It means increased blended learning, ICT integration, and doing more to enhance student digital literacy. Digital literacy is at the forefront of the future of Cambodia. Unfortunately, there are many teachers that are either stuck in the past or not up to date. Delusional mindsets tend to think all of this blended learning and ICT integration stuff will just magically go away, but the cold reality is that it is not going away. It is only going to intensify. The best thing teachers can do at this time is get up to speed. Those who go against the grain will be left behind, get on board, and go along for the ride! Being a step ahead of the game is better than being a step behind.
